To protect the fishery, wildlife and all visitors, the following rules apply at Swiss Valley Reservoir. By Fishing here, you agree to follow them at all times
General Rules
All anglers Must hold a valid rod licence
All anglers must Hold a valid permit
All Anglers must take all rubbish and tackle home.
All Anglers Must Act responsibly and respect other users of the reservoir.
Camping is only Permitted for Paid members to Swiss Valley angling association, with a maximum stay of 72 hours.
Predator fishing Rules
Barbless Hooks must be used for Pike and perch, if not please crimp the barb down with pliers.
A wire trace is mandatory when targeting Pike
An Unhooking Mat must be used at all times for the safe handling of fish.
A suitable landing net must be used at all times.
No fishing for Pike in Extreme warm conditions.
Pike Spawn Mid March to Middle of April- we kindly ask for you not to target Pike during this period.
All fish must be returned safely and without delay
Carp Fishing Rules
Some predator rules apply here.
Carp typically spawn around May, once we know they are spawning, fishing for Carp will be paused for 2 weeks.
An unhooking mat must be used at all times
A suitable Landing net must be used at all times
All fish must be returned safely and without delay.
Fishing Afloat
Fishing from a kayak, boat, or float tube is Prohibited unless you are a full paid member of SWKA, This is an insurance requirement. Link to SWKA is in Useful links below and on main page.
Launching is only permitted from designated areas.
Seasonal & Environmental Protection
Respect the area, wildlife, nesting birds and any protected areas.
No fires.
No Swimming or entering the water.
Keep Noise to a minimum, especially early morning and late evening.
Conduct & Behaviour
Aggressive, abusive, or anti social behaviour will not be tolerated.
Alcohol must be consumed responsibly; No illegal substances.
Dogs must be kept under control and waste must be removed.
Equipment & Safety
Suitable landing nets and unhooking mats must be used for all species.
No deadlines, unsafe rigs or fish traps to used.
Follow all rules, signage and any information a bailiff or ranger will give you.
Failure to Comply
Any angler found breaking these rules, may be asked to leave the reservoir and may have their membership and or the permit revoked and possible complete ban from Swiss Valley Reservoir.
